Hessed v'Tzedek Project

Moed's annual fellowship program for both religious and secular 6th graders to confront challenges in society, study Jewish texts on the topic, meet some innovative non-profits and go out to volunteer and engage hands on social justice work together.
The fellowship covers 9 units which explore:
  1. Poverty
  2. Disability
  3. Elderly
  4. Environmental impact
  5. Chronic illness
  6. Children at risk
  7. Animal welfare
  8. Lone soldiers
  9. Refugees
Each unit involves a close look at the social reality, an engagement with Jewish text to consider approaches to the challenge, meeting with people and organizations working to address elements of the problem and going out to volunteer in hands-on social action to engage the cause.
